Jimmy Roberts opened the door to his family’s apartment. Outside a throng of children stood in the colony’s living section’s courtyard. Each child carried some kind of weapon. All of them starred at Jimmy. Jimmy stepped out of his apartment into the courtyard. The simulated night sky showed a field of stars and a gibbous moon. Behind Jimmy a woman lay in the entry way in a pool of blood.
Jimmy raised his bloody knife into the air. “Korrag!”
“Korrag!” The children echoed.
Jimmy walked toward the living block’s exit. The rest of the children fell in step behind him.

Roberts ran for Systems Control, priming his weapon as he went. This had to stop here.
With ice in his heart, Roberts realized that his name was already doomed to that special section of history reserved for Manson, Dahmer, and Jim Jones. This was the hand he’d been dealt.
Rimms and his team were already dead. They just had to hold Korrag long enough for Roberts to trigger the failsafe.
A searing pain between Roberts’ eyes blinded him, and he nearly fell as he reached the door to Control. As he stumbled, he cried out in horror: “Oh, God! Jimmy!”
