The Fandom Snark’s Favorite Audio for the weeks of 5/17/2009 – Contagious By Scott Sigler

Well it is time again for me to disclose what I enjoyed most listening to in the last week (5/11/2009 – 5/17/2009) and it was the podcast edition of Contagious by Scott Sigler.

As Contagious has enter into it’s end game, not that it hasn’t been a great ride up until now, Scott has really turned the action and suspense up to 11. The story is an alien invasion horror thrill ride of epic proportion that does not quit. And the performance by the author, Scott Sigler, revival the best readers in the audio books industry. If you are not listening to this free podcast novel, you should be.

Note: This book is very graphic and contains lots of violence, gore, and adult language. If you are sensitive to any of these thing don’t listen.

The Snarky Avenger’s Favorite Audio of the Week for 5/10/2009

Well folks it was really busy last week and I forgot to post about the best thing I listened to on the week of 4/27/2009, so this week you get a double feature as I catch up.

For the week of 4/27/2009 my favorite piece of audio was Sonic Gold‘s presentation of Colonial Radio Theatre‘s Barrymore. Barrymore is an adaptation of a one-man stage show about the life of actor John Barrymore. And it is truly sonic gold.

The Colonial Radio Theatre’s production of Barrymore is by far one of the best pieces of audio drama I have ever heard. Jerry Robbins is masterful, as is the rest of the cast, in bring this story to life. Before I heard this piece I barely knew who John Barrymore was and by the end I was weeping for him. This is powerful stuff that should not be missed.

For the week of 4/31/2009 my favorite piece of audio is the audio book version of Soon I Will Be Invincible: A Novel by Austin Grossman. The story itself is one of the best superhero stories I have heard in a really long time. And the performance of the story by Paul Boehmer and Coleen Marlo is great. If you want more details on the book I talked about it in detail on the episode of Snark Infested Waters dated 5/7/2008. Needless to say I am definitely looking forward to the future work of Austin Grossman as well as the voice work of Paul Boehmer and Coleen Marlo, there readings really brought the characters to life for me. So if you like super heroes and super villains go pick up a copy right now.

The Snarky Avenger’s Favorite Audio of the Week for 4/26/2009

Okay folks, it is the moment you have all been waiting for. It is time for me, The Snarky Avenger, to announce my favorite piece of audio for the week of April 21 through April 26. And that item is… Wait for it… Graphic Audio’s Adaptation of R.A. Salvatore’s Demon Wars Book 1: The Demon Awakens Part 2

Now you might wonder why I did not say Part one, and that is a good question. Basically, I listen to part one the week before and part one’s greatness was trumped by my good friend The Zombie Astronaut. But this week R.A. Salvatore’s Demon Wars rises to the top and both parts one and two of the first book are excellent.

R.A. Salvatore’s Demon Wars is somewhat non-traditional fantasy with a good story and strong characters. And the adaptation for audio is of the highest caliber. I highly recommend checking them out. So head over to Graphic Audio and check out there adaption of R.A. Salvatore’s Demon Wars for yourself. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

The Snarky Avenger’s Favorite Audio of the Week for 4/19/2009

I have decided that each week on Sunday I am going to write a post telling you what the best audio item I listen to in the last week was. It might be a podcast, it might be an audio drama, an audio book, or a song. But whatever it is I will post it here every Sunday. Now without further rambling by me here is my favorite Audio Item for the week of 4/13/2009: The Zombie Astronaut’s Frequency Of Fear Episode 53 – Adolph The Barbarian

Adolph The Barbarian is an excellent send up of the Fantasy genre in true Zombie Astronaut style with many excellent Barbarian themed stories from our friend’s at PowerRecords. A must listen for audio drama and OTR fans.
